As part of our 1st ancillary task - the design of a 'digipak' for the EP - we decided to work on the artwork for the album's cover. Here is a stage by stage breakdown of the planning and execution of the artwork for Low Res' 'OUTSIDE'.
The Preliminary sketch for 'OUTSIDE' concept. |
Working closely with the artist we brainstormed ideas for the themes of the album's artwork. In accord with Low Res' ideas for the music, we decided on a juxtaposition of man and nature, and set about preparing a simple sketch design on which to base our concept.
The sketch actualized using Illustrator and Photoshop |
Next, we set about drawing our design digitally via adobe illustrator. Once complete, we transferred it into photoshop to begin adding details.
Details added - etches and shading added to the design |
Further shading produces a near-final greyscale copy. |
After completing a detailed final b-and-w design we set about adding color using a paintbrush tool on a bamboo tablet.
Near-Final colourised copy. |
After final tweaking to the colours, a final copy was produced. |
